Alan is a contemporary designer-maker and has produced his exquisite furniture for over 30 years using traditional techniques.

Well known in Australia, and internationally, Alan’s precision veneer work and creativity with Tasmanian woods is presented through a logical simplicity and beauty in his work.

Alan’s career has lead him sharing his knowledge through teaching at the school of Fine Furniture in Tasmania, writing articles for a range of publications and being placed on various Boards to provide design advice including the most recent appointment to the Board of Studio Woodworkers Australia.

He has received numerous accolades for his work including the Tasmanian Fine Future of the Year Award (1982) and the Dupont national Innovation Award (1990) and recent commissions for the Federal Group, Peat Marwick and Hungerford, Tasmanian Parliament, Queen Victoria Museum and the University of Tasmania.

TWOFOURTWO Boutique Apartments are fully fitted with furniture created by Alan especially for each space.

Alan’s latest product range includes the Plateau range, the Ute range and the Pinot wine table.

The Plateau range features a dining table, coffee table and credenza. Using high quality veneer on plywood substrate, this range focuses on simple clean and contemporary design.

The Ute range is a simple utilitarian range which is inspired by the humble saw horse.
This range is designed in solid timber, glass and a solid top.

The Pinot wine table is Alan’s version of a classic piece of furniture. This wine table was always circular, three legged and light weight, which can be packed flat for shipping.

Commercial furniture including boardroom tables, design in wood for commercial interiors, veneered doors, dinning settings, chairs and coffee table are available on request.

Bespoke work for private residences and offices include bookshelves and desks.
